Getting Started with Swim Desk


There are some important considerations to review at your centre before you start using the SwimDesk system.


Below is a check list of the considerations.


Update parent contact information- Particular focus on email addresses.


As the system will be used to improve communication levels with parents, it is important to have a complete record of parent contact details (particularly email addresses). If your records are incomplete we suggest you make an effort to update this information to ensure you have a good percentage of parent emails before getting started. This will ensure you can optimise communications from the start.


Purchase Ipad/s- Consider water proof cover for added protection around pool deck.


To use the program on pool deck we recommend using 1 or 2 iPads for your TIC’s . The number of tablets required will depend on the size of your program however generally 1 iPad is sufficient. We suggest using or purchasing an iPad version 2 or later as the more current versions have the highest level of connectivity. You may also want to consider a laptop for the TIC’s desk on pool deck where TIC’s can manage appointment bookings, action tasks etc.


Test your WiFi connectivity on an ipad on pool deck


If the internet at your centre consistently drops out or is excessively slow you may want to consider implementing a stronger internet connection or Wi-Fi booster on pool deck. (You don’t require lightning speed internet to run the system, just a stable connection at a reasonable speed) You may want to consult your clubs IT professional to find the best solution if you are experiencing these issues. If you are having troubles with connectivity or signal strength on the pool deck and cannot find a solution it may be best to wait until a solution is found before implementing the system.
