The 90 day check list is a reporting tool to evaluate the effectiveness of your member retention and induction processes.

The majority of our focus for retention processes should be on beginner to intermediate members. These members need intensive support and assistance throughout the first 90 days of membership which can come in the form of face to face contact with a trainer or follow up via phone or email.

For strong member retention, ideally each new member should go through 3 appointments over the first 90 days of membership. These would generally be the following….
1. Fitness Consultation (Gathering information about the member including goals, current fitness levels and training preferences)
2. Exercise Demonstration- (A personalised exercise plan is developed for the member)
3. Support Session- (A shorter catch up to see how the member is tracking and to answer any questions, usually best to be 2-3 weeks after the Exercise Demonstration.

Often members slip through the cracks during the early stages of their membership and fail to go through the ideal induction sequence outlined above. This can result in members receiving a lack of guidance and support which can potentially lead to a poor average membership length.

If our goal is to ensure each new member goes through the ideal sequence of appointments how can we monitor these outcomes?

GreeneDesk’s 90 day check list report allows health club managers to review all members who have started at their facility during the last 90 days and the appointments they have successfully completed.

The 90 day check list report can be found within the reporting menu of your GreeneDesk management and fitness director logins under the appointment summary link.

The report lists all members who have joined the facility in the last 90 days and outlines their start date, their designated trainer and all appointments they have undertaken up until this point.

The report can also be exported to excel for further analysis if desired.

It should be the responsibility of the gym instructor to ensure that new members go through the correct sequence of appointments. If members miss appointments (particular beginner and intermediate members) they may lack the support and education needed to become comfortable with sticking to a regular exercise routine.

The 90 day check list report allows you to easily monitor the journey of each new member to ensure they have received an adequate level of support. It also provides you with the opportunity to identify members who have missed crucial appointments so you can follow up and re-engage them.

We recommend that a health club coordinator reviews the 90 day check list report at least once a month.
